Love Story of the Summer 2015 Season

BRIEF DETAILS
Date of release: Summer 2015
Number of episode: 12 episodes
Studio of production: Bones

Summary and What I think

Shirayuki, is a determined redhead with no social class status currently working as an apprentice court herbalist in the kingdom of Clarines after been “saved” by the kingdom’s second prince with his entourage of hilarious sword yielding duo. And thus, she embarked on some of the most extraordinary journey known to mankind. Well, basically things surrounding living in the castle. If you ask me, it is just plain. It is like welcoming a commoner with no status what-so-ever to a castle. It is good to know at least it Zen, the second prince of Clarines have to “fight” with his “messenger” Obi or rather his attendant to get Shirayuki. But this is not the main focus of this premise. I guess the main plot revolves directly on the word “change” and how a person viewed his or her world given that they take the first step onward to change them for the better future. To be honest, Shirayuki is just outstanding and whenever she encounters an obstacle, did you see her cry? Oh hell no, this baby bites back with the power of medical knowledge and a bit of botanist.

Character development

The character development is alright but with the solid foundation build on the main female protagonist, Shirayuki, it is hard to accept a character with almost no flaws. (Refer to Irregular Magic Highschool Bad-Ass God-like Tatsuya). However, Shirayuki has a certain flaws like uncontrolled blushing and lack of horse riding knowledge. It is refreshing to see her character not only develop but further progress other character surround her such as the gallant male protagonist who happens to be the second prince, Zen Wistalia. Like usual, he has his own dark past and bad terms with his brother, the first prince. One of the top comments for this section that I got from the fan base is that they want more time for Zen’s attendants, Kiki and Mitsuhide to be inserted in between the episode due to their humour and compatibility with each other.

Graphic and Pace

The graphic is average but somewhat lighter tone. Pretty much like your average shoujo-historical-romance genre but slightly better. The seamlessly water coloured background is stunning and sometimes mesmerised me with the detailed but sometime just f**k all. Again please be reminded that this is your typical shoujo anime so the pace is slow but not to the point where you get bored of it and switch to other anime. Since this is Studio Bones, the fighting scene is pretty neat for a shoujo anime considering the detail put into the moving projectile and the fluidity of the sword movement.

Music and choreography

Nice. The music is alright and less memorable. Well, that is all I can say.

Verdict

Akagami no Shirayuki-Hime is considered to be one of the best anime for the Summer Season 2015 although it is underrated by some. However, if you are looking something to make your heart skips a beat without actually getting a real life boyfriend or girlfriend, then this show is for you.

P/S: THERE WILL BE A SEASON 2 FOR THIS ANIME. HA..HA..HA..oh God
